The National Asian Culture Center (ACC, President Lee Kanghyun), under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is recruiting “ACC Seasonal Artists” through the ACC website from Jan. 13 to Feb. 3.
The “ACC Seasonal Artists” program, which launched this year, aims to select artists to collaborate with the ACC Theater throughout the year. The program offers not only performance opportunities but also various research and development activities designed to support artists in their creative growth. Through this initiative, the ACC seeks to solidify its identity and role as a production-focused theater while providing artists with a stable platform for creation growth, research, and professional development.
This year, the ACC Seasonal Artists program will feature approximately 15 participants, selected in two stages. In the first stage of recruitment, seven participants will be chosen from three categories: Children’s Performances, Repertoire Performances, and Creative Producers. The second stage of recruitment will be conducted at a later date.
Eligibility is open to professional performing artists aged 18 or older, with no restrictions on nationality, residence, academic background, or experience. Notably, additional points will be awarded to residents of the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, promoting the development of local performing arts and fostering regional talent.
The evaluation consists of a first-round document screening and a second-round performance assessment. The performance assessment will assess the required skills for each category through tailored methods.
Selected artists will participate in ACC performances and engage in research and development projects. In addition to performing in the designated works applied for through the audition, they may also be cast in other ACC-created and -produced works if their skills and roles align.
Furthermore, selected artists will have the opportunity to participate in the ACC’s mentoring program, major national performances, and workshops, enhancing their skills as creators. They will also have opportunities to present their original works on the ACC stage.
The ACC will provide performance fees for appearances and funding to support the creative and research activities of its Seasonal Artists. For more detailed information, please refer to the announcements section on the ACC website (www.acc.go.kr).
Lee Kanghyun, President of the National Asian Culture Center, stated, “The Seasonal Artists program will provide a valuable opportunity for local artists in terms of performance participation and skill development.” He added, “We will support this initiative by the ACC to ensure it takes root successfully and contributes to the development of local performing arts in the long term.”
