About
A time to face the truth learned by many, but forgotten by all!
This inter-disciplinary production combines sand art, shadow play, and music!
The Magic Fountain is an adaptation of a Tajikistan legend about a quest to find the magical fountain. This family-friendly production, which is based on a story adapted into a picture book published by the ACC, combines shadow play, sand art, and music. Let your imagination run wild with this heartwarming show about truth and life.
※ The 2020 production of The Magic Fountain is an improved and expanded version of the The Magic Fountain showcase (October 29, 2019) under the 2019 ACC Asian Story Children’s Content Project.
Story
“Have you heard about a mystical fountain of magic that heals all ailments?” Bakhtobar is a blind boy with a heart of gold. After an unfortunate encounter with the procession of a greedy king, the boy meets a mysterious old man, who restores the boy’s vision. The greedy king puts Bakhtobar behind bars and begins to look everywhere for the old man and the Magic Fountain. However, the old man is nowhere to be seen, and the king hears an unsettling rumor that Bakhtobar is in love with the king’s dear daughter. Where can the magic fountain be? Will the greedy king get to find it?

The Asia Culture Center helps children develop their imagination and understanding of cultural diversity by producing and presenting theatrical projects that utilize the rich cultural resources at the center.

The ACC Asian Story Children’s Content Project features productions created by selected artists based on Asian stories. The productions were showcased in October and November 2019 after workshops and mentoring sessions. Between February and July 2020, the ACC presents the final versions of the productions, which improve on the showcased versions based on feedback from audiences and experts.
