Notes
White Ravens Catalog Books
International Youth Library (Internationale Jugendbibliothek), located in Munich, Germany, has compiled a yearly catalog of universal, creative, artistic, and noteworthy books published worldwide with the help of language experts since 1993. The books are announced in line with the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, and the catalog has been recognized worldwide for demonstrating the trends in international children’s and young adult books.
New York Times Children’s Books
New York Times is a publication of worldwide renown, and New York Times’ selection of children’s books, chosen in November every year since 1952 and published in its book review special section, reflects the most beloved and valued picture books published in the United States that year. Since 2017, the award has been known as The New York Times/New York Public Library Best Illustrated Children’s Books Award, in conjunction with New York Public Library.
Hans Christian Andersen Award
Hans Christian Andersen Award, the highest international recognition given to children’s literature worldwide, was created in 1956 in memory of the 19th Century Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen. Two awards are given each year, one for the writer and one for the illustrator, by the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY). On March 2022, illustrator Suzy Lee became the first Korean winner of the award with her work “Summer” (Yeoreumi onda).
