About
An exciting quest to find the golden fruit guarded by Vishnu!
A king and a child meet in the desert. Will they find the golden tree?
Haathee and Clowns is an adaptation of an ancient story from India called “Life Fruit, Golden Fruit.” The story depicts a quest to find answers to fundamental questions about sacrifice, life, and death. The production utilizes a variety of elements including puppets, masks, shadows, beautiful music, and splendid costumes to depict the scenes from the distant land of India where many life stories cross paths.
※ The 2020 production of Haathee and Clowns is a revamped version of the Haathee and Clowns showcase (October 26, 2019, PlayHouse) under the 2019 ACC Asian Story Children’s Content Project.
Story
In the Desert of Death, beyond a mirage, stands a golden tree guarded by a god called Vishnu.

The golden tree bears Life Fruit and Death Fruit. King Gupta embarks on a journey to the golden tree, seeking the Life Fruit and its power to grant eternal life.

During the journey, the king meets a child named Aso, who seeks the Fruit of Death from the golden tree. Aso detests the king, for the boy had been separated from his family during a war waged by the king.
King Gupta and Aso overcome their differences and many obstacles during their quest to find the golden tree. Vishnu, the guardian of the tree, tries to stop King Gupta and Aso by any means necessary...
