About
The international organization that participates in this project in association with ACC is NTL. NTL was founded by Eugenio Barba, a co-founder of Theater Anthropology and considered one of the three masters of modern theater. It is to be performed by the Korean theater company Mindeulle Co., Ltd., which has been selected through the project posting. Mindeulle specializes in performances that contemplate social issues by interpreting Korean movements.
NTL and Mindeulle shared the pre-production stage and prepared this showcase in a twin-package joint production in which two different theatrical themes and images were produced based on one literature text.
To express literature in theater language, we translate expressions of the actors into langue du corps, and aim to develop Asian theater creation methodology.
Program
Kien had a lover, Phượng, whom he has been in relationship since the young age of 16.
“We will never be apart. Right, Kien? We will die together, even in death.”
But he and Phượng are reunited after the war, and Kien’s illness grows worse. In the midst of war, where one must die to save another? What happens between Kien and Phượng? Can Kien bring himself to face the shards of memories of the ghosts that roam the chaos?

The process of turning the individual lives into the images of physical movements require a high degree of training and demanded much time, but also meant the inner growth of individual cast members.
This process, we believe, will be an opportunity to develop Asian langue du corps into the international theatrical language.
While staying true to the original work and to preserve the spirit of Gwangju, we plan to express the images and symbols of humankind’s yearning for peace.
