Introduction
ACC PlayHouse Joint Programming
개똥이와 무등산 호랑이
<Gaettongi and Mudeungsan Tiger> was produced based on the Gangnyeong Talchum (Mask Dance Drama of Gangnyeong), National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 34 of Korea. Gaettongi, the protagonist, leads the children in a search for a familiar animal, a tiger, and by doing so, introduces the traditional performances of Korea to the children. By taking part in traditional plays, participants come together in a play space where they engage, participate, and create the performances.
Story
A baby tiger, born from the energy of Mudeungsan Mountain, lives with Gaettongi and his granny. The tiger’s favorite food is red bean porridge. But one day, the tiger disappears while playing with Gaettongi. Gaettongi is distraught, calling after the tiger as he descends from the mountain. Gaettongi runs into a group of people, and he plays with them happily. But aren't you forgetting something? Oh, right! Gaettongi needs your help finding the tiger.

As Gaettongi looks around the place, searching for the tiger, several tigers appear on stage disguised as humans! They're apparently in some kind of a contest to elect the great king of tigers. Where could the Mudeungsan Tiger be? The tigers have disguised themselves to trick Gaettongi, and Gaettongi needs to find the tiger before the porridge grows cold. Who'll come out on top?
