Randall Goosby Violin Recital
"A new name to remember"
- Los Angeles Times
Violinist Randall Goosby, born to a Korean mother raised in Japan and an African-American father, is slated to perform in Korea for the first time. Goosby is a 26-year-old violinist that appeared to the world after the exclusive signing with Decca Classics in 2020. He is a representative disciple of the violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman, excelling in his deep and warm tone of performance reminiscent of his mentor. His performance features expressive and free-flowing music.

The debut album of a rookie musician inevitably reflects the true essence of the performer without any concealment. Likewise, Goosby tells his story through his debut album <Roots> and expresses his personal and cultural African-American roots through music with no exaggeration.

His first recital in Korea, the home country of his mother, his greatest source of inspiration and motivation, will be filled with his original and unique performance. The recital will start with Lili Boulanger’s Deux Morceaux, ollowed by the essence of French jazz and blues, Ravel’s Violin Sonata No.2 in G Major. Next up is the music of the legendary figure with numerous achievements as an African-American Musician—William Grant Still’s Suite for Violin and Piano, and Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 9 in A Major, Op. 47 “Kreutzer”. Pianist Zhu Wang who has been performing with Goosby since their years in the Julliard School will also be on stage.

The musical philosophy that expands spontaneously within the frame of classical music. This is what describes Goosby’s presence in the music world. Fun, colorful, and free, yet classical. It is time that we listen carefully to the unique story of Goosby, who hopes to become a cultural messenger and a performer of cultural and human legacy in his DNA.

Randall Goosby Violinist
“For me, personally, music has been a way to inspire others.” Randall Goosby is a violinist drawing the world's attention, making a new wave in the classical music industry. Signed exclusively to Decca Classics in 2020 at the age of 24, Randall Goosby is acclaimed for the sensitivity and intensity of his musicianship alongside his determination to make music more inclusive and accessible, as well as bringing the music of under-represented composers to light.

Highlights of his recent career include Philadelphia Orchestra/Yannick Nezet-Seguin, San Francisco Symphony/Esa-Pekka Salonen performing the Florence Price concerti, returns to the London Philharmonic Orchestra/Alpesh Chauhan, Philharmonia Orchestra/Santtu-Matias Rouvali and Los Angeles Philharmonic/Dalia Stasevska, Royal Scottish National Orchestra/Tabita Berglund, and Dallas Symphony Orchestra/Karina Canellakis. Goosby will also make his debuts in South Korea in recital and in Japan with the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa/Wigglesworth performing Bruch Violin Concerto.
June 2021 saw the release of Goosby's debut album for Decca entitled <Roots>, a celebration of African-American music which explores its evolution from the spiritual through to present-day compositions. Collaborating with pianist Zhu Wang, Goosby curated an album paying homage to the pioneering artists that paved the way for him and other artists of color.

The Julliard School graduate is pursuing an Artist Diploma under Itzhak Perlman and Catherine Cho. Gossby plays a 1735 Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesu, on generous loan from the Stradivary Society.
