About
어린이 책 놀이터 너나들이 도시풍경
What does the urban landscape look like
from someone else’s perspective?
What does it mean to view something
from someone else’s perspective?
Author Park Hyeon-min suggests the possibility of seeing the world differently through an unfamiliar perspective on urban landscapes.
This exhibition introduces the original paintings of Finding the Light, Urban Flight, Hey, Let's Play!, and Tremendous Snow. It tells the story that as our perspectives of the world becomes more varied, the world we experience also becomes more colorful and expansive.

Now, shall we embark on an adventure to discover the urban landscape anew through unfamiliar perspectives?
Finding the Light

“I set out to find that light without even realizing it.”
“It takes courage to leave the house in the dark of night.”
“Finding the Light” tells the story of a protagonist who wakes up in the middle of the night and sets off on an adventure with their friend to find the light. During this journey, they encounter the colorful nightscapes of the city that change depending on their location and perspective. In the end, the protagonist finds the light they were searching for and returns home.

If the protagonist hadn’t mustered the courage to embark on the adventure, would they have been able to experience the night of the city that’s completely different from the day? Now, why don’t we also embark on our own adventures to find our own light?
Urban Flight

“Will I be able to soar in the sky someday too?”
“I will look straight ahead without fear. Toward everything that comes my way.”
In “Urban Flight,” as dandelions blooming in the cracks of the sidewalk dream of soaring and gather the courage to bravely face approaching dangers, in that moment, a young girl approaches and helps the seeds spread to wider places.

If we gather the courage to soar freely like the dandelions and accept and understand different perspectives, wouldn’t the world we perceive and experience also broaden?
“Hey, Let's Play!”
ⓒ Text and illustrations by Park Hyeon-min, Hey, Let's Play!
“Yahoo! It’s such a thrilling night!”
“Hey, Let's Play!” conveys the exciting emotions and energy of twin who secretly visit a playground on a dark night to play. They have so much fun playing until suddenly they reach the moon. Feeling like something is missing with just the two of them, they shout out to the neighborhood children in the middle of the night. “Hey, let’s play!”

What if we also respond with a “Yes!” to our friends’ call and excitedly jump and play together?
Tremendous Snow
ⓒ Text and Illustration by Park Hyeon-min, Tremendous Snow
“The snow is tremendous.”
“We can't let a day like this go by without a snowball fight and building a snowman.”
“Tremendous Snow” is a story about a day when an enormous amount of snow falls, covering the world in pure white. Two friends, the main characters, come out and start a snowball fight. Soon after that they begin making a snowman.

What would our city and the world look like if a tremendous amount of snow fell?
Author Park Hyeon-min
“We look at the world through a small frame.”
So, we expand our own world by looking at it from various perspectives.
When my world and your world meet, we become connected.
If we can see the world through someone else’s eyes, we can love that “someone.”
