About
ACC Residency Roundtable
Imagining the Posthuman Body
Each year, ACC Residency selects the most pressing issues that require our attention and work with researchers and creators from around the world on ways to address them through art. Following last year’s theme of ‘Biophilia’, which looked into life on earth over the preceding two years, this year we are exploring a new brand of humanism under the title 'the Post-COVID Era and Post-humanism'. The ACC residents who applied for the ‘Dialogue’ category will present their research findings at the roundtable. These studies, which can be summarized into the three keywords of ‘Body’, ‘Technology’ and ‘Women’, will be presented together with the projects of participants in other interrelated genres. We hope that these roundtable discussions can offer a broader perspective of the future.

Participant
You Seunga (Dialogue Researcher)
<Mapping Posthuman body through Cyborg beings>
You Seunga studies visual arts with special focus on the body as a place that reflects diverse social contexts. During the ACC residency, she has examined the meaning of the posthuman body through monster-like figures and beings which are often used as metaphorical representations of a cyborg in Korean performance art.
Lee Inkang (Art & Technology Creator)
<Joint research of motions based on wearable exoskeleton technology and data>
Lee Inkang’s project during ACC Residency, Performing Suit 01, is an experiment of the body movement to control the choreographer’s motions and movements using the electroencephalogram sensor and wearable exoskeleton technology. By witnessing the cyborg, an alternative human body controlled by others, in an artistic setting, we can ask various questions about the future and the creative activity.
Lee Same (Visual Arts Creator)
<The Sapiens Zoo Preview>
During the ACC Residency, Lee Same has worked on the project the Sapiens, which visualizes her imagination of human life in a future world where they are no longer bound by labor. On one side, there are humans that acquire an immortal body with the help of artificial intelligence in this human zoo, while on its opposite side lies a virtual world of humans that refuse to be controlled by machines. Lee Same wants to think about the coexistence of humans and nonhumans, and about the role of art.
Lingxiang Wu (Art & Technology Creator)
<Becoming spam or discards: exploring the self regarding bodies, technology, and the attention economy>
Lingxiang Wu examines the power structure within the digital space and the capitalist economy, and investigates our entangled relationship with images and with each other in the digital space. Through his project, which reconstructs the body images from social media, he wants to create a digital experience that helps viewers to take a pause from the temporary hyperactivity and enjoy a brief moment of reflection.
