Introduction
2022–2023 Children’s Book Playground Let’s be Friends with Books
지금, 지구에서
Right now, what does our Earth look like?
Right now, what can we do for the Earth?
Writer Oh Sena starts from small basic objects, captured from her unique perspective, and uses metaphors, paradoxes, and images to speak about the “Earth, right now.”
This exhibition looks back at whether the “Earth, right now,” that humans have created is well and sustainable through the illustrations of Bingsan (Iceberg), Geomjeongtokki (The Black Rabbit), and Tetrix. Furthermore, the exhibition also invites us to think together about what we can do in our daily lives for the Earth and imagine a future where nature, humans, and other life-forms can live harmoniously.

Introduction to Exhibition Picture Books
Bingsan (Iceberg)
The white piece of tissue paper jutting out of the rectangular box on the last page of Bingsan resembles a small, white block of iceberg. This picture book metaphorically tells us that our small actions each day, such as taking and throwing away a piece of tissue paper, cause global warming and can result in the disappearance of icebergs and animals that live on them.

Geomjeongtokki (The Black Rabbit)
Geomjeongtokki is a paradoxical story that uses colorful and beautiful imagery to tell the tale of how the plastic we use and discard so easily return to nature and destroy lives and the environment.

Tetrix
Oh Sena’s new work, Tetrix, comprises three chapters, namely, “grow - nurture - weave.” It uses the game of Tetris as a metaphor to show how the causes of human convenience have destroyed the diversity of life on today’s Earth over time. Is the image of our Earth sustainable?

Writer Introduction
Writer Oh Sena
“Small and insignificant worlds contain every story of our lives.”
I like to look at small and insignificant things as they contain every philosophy of the lives we lead. There, I discover messages my eyes capture. I weave and nurture the messages I have collected to shape a vessel called a picture book, through which I hope to capture your hearts.
Major Works Robot Chingu (2013), Jiugae (2018), Bingsan (2019), Geomjeongtokki (2020)
