2023 ACC CONTEXT < Walking, Wandering >

We walk every day, throughout our lives. Some go on a pilgrimage and some take part in a march. Walking is more than moving from one place to another. It is beyond the simple movement of our bodies. 2023 ACC CONTEXT goes over the significance of walking, an ordinary act we perform every day. The exhibition shares what we can find, where we get to, and how we can change as we take one step at a time.

About
2023 ACC CONTEXT
<Walking, Wandering>
2023 ACC CONTEXT <Walking, Wandering> goes over the significance of walking, an ordinary act we perform every day. From the moment we take our first baby steps to the time we depend on a walking stick, we walk every day throughout our lives. Some go on a pilgrimage and some take part in a march. Walking is more than moving from one place to another. It is beyond the simple movement of our bodies.

It is a rich experience filled with events and encounters. Like passers-by or travelers who walk without a destination or take sidetracks to encounter an unexpected event, the abundant stories of artists is not just about getting somewhere; they treasure the discoveries found during the process of walking. At the same time, the ordinary movement of walking can also serve as an artistic method of conveying messages. Alongside its innate critical mind, works that track the dull side of urban areas and go out to the streets with the less privileged capture the active will to escape from the current position and proceed to somewhere better. The exhibition offers the opportunity to ponder on what we can find, where we get to, and how we can change as we take one step at a time.

Audiences are invited to walk together on the paths of works created by artists who personally walked along the paths of Korea, China, Guatemala, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, etc. Talking about the novel experiences encountered during a journey to a destination set by oneself makes walking a metaphor of life. The initial destination may not matter. The struggles in finding a way makes all people walking in the city pedestrians and performers of life.
