Purchasing Materials to Be Housed as the Asia Culture Museum Collection for 2023
We are receiving applications from those wishing to sell materials to be housed as the Asia Culture Museum collection as an extension of our efforts to promote cultural diversity and create greater value for Asia. We ask for the interest and participation of many cultural enthusiasts.

1. Target materials: Tangible materials (artifacts, etc.) that have high value as an Asian cultural property, research subject, and exhibit

  • A. Related to Central Asia’s traditional cultures (lifestyles, religions, holidays, music, etc.)
  • B. Related to Central Asia’s folktales
  • C. Related to Central Asia’s urban cultures (squares, traditional markets, etc.)
  • D. Related to Central Asia’s democracy, human rights, and peace

  • Folktales and myths of different countries (Epic of Manas, Epic of Jangar, Epic of Geser, etc.)
Central Asia’s urban cultures
  • Tangible materials related to the cultures of Central Asian cities
  • History and urban square culture of major Central Asian cities (Samarkand, Tashkent, Bukhara, Fergana, Khiva, Urgench, Herat, Khujand, Kokand, Urumqi, etc.)
Central Asia’s democracy, human rights, and peace
  • Tangible materials related to the democracy, human rights, and peace-building efforts of Central Asia
  • Democratization and human rights evolution of Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan
  • *Additional materials deemed necessary for exhibitions, research, and training

2. Qualifications: Individual material owners, cultural property dealers, and corporations/organizations

3. Application period: June 27 (Tue.) - July 11 (Tue.)

4. Method: Via email (yeopo81@korea.kr)

  • * All documents must be submitted digitally via email. Postal submission is allowed for exceptional cases.
  • * Documents submitted before 17:00 on the final day of the application period shall be deemed valid.
  • * After the submission process is completed, make sure to check that all documents have been safely submitted with our staff in charge.

5. Required documents: 1. Application for Sale of Cultural Property (Attachment 1) and Detailed Statement of Materials for Sale (Attachment 2)

  • A. One copy of Material Selling Application and Detailed Statement of Materials for Sale each
  • *A digital image of each material for sale must be included in the Detailed Statement. Please send the compressed files of individual images (in jpg, gif, or png; 3-5MB) separately.
  • B. (Applying as an individual) One copy of any official ID card (resident registration card, etc.)
  • C. (Applying by proxy) One copy of a power of attorney for artifact sale
  • D. (Applying as a corporation or organization) One copy of a power of attorney for artifact sale and a corporation register or organization register each
  • E. (Applying as a cultural property dealer) One copy of a cultural property dealership license and business license each

6. Purchasing decision: Purchasing is decided based on the deliberation and appraisal of the Deliberation and Appraisal Committee on Candidate Materials for Asia Culture Museum.

7. Transfer of ownership : Once purchasing is decided, the material purchasing contract is concluded with the applicant. Ownership of the material is transferred to Asia Culture Museum of ACC after payment is made.

8. Others

  • A. We prioritize materials in decent condition and of high cultural and academic value.
  • B. Materials from unreliable sources and with unclear provenance, as well as those presumed to have been illicitly attained (through tomb robbery, etc.), are excluded.
  • C. Submission and recovery expenses shall be paid by the applicants.
  • D. Exclusion from purchasing candidacy is notified to the applicants within ten days from the date of decision. Excluded materials should be recovered by their owners through the preset procedures. Those materials that have not been recovered within 30 days from the date of notification may be disposed of arbitrarily.
