Eternal Now: The Review

Contemporary dance emerges as a reaction to classical forms and probably as a need to express oneself more freely with the body, it is a dance class that seeks to express trough the dancer an idea, feeling and emotion like classical dance but mixing body movements of the actual era, that it is why the variety of dance productions manifest modern ideologies that connects and inspires to the audience a cultural manifestation and entertainment.

On August 6 and 7, the Asia Culture Center presented ¨ Eternal Now¨, the fourth and final chapter of the Here NOW series created and produced by the choreographer and artistic director Young Soon Kim and White Wave Dance Company of which she is a founder since 1988. Young Soon Kim, born in Gwangju and has a large repertoire in the world of dance, has been creating more than 68 original works full of vision and movement language with imagination and passion for the art of dance.

Eternal Now is a dramatic play that features 16 scenes, live music and a talented dance group capable of expressing human emotion through each of its movement. During the presentation of about an hour and a half, the scenes were divided into duos trios and group dances, each scene expressed a plot full of emotion and visually impressive that connected directly with the general public.

The structure of the choreography is now, space and time since it is related to the internal emotions of the human being, from the beginning of the work the background music was present with musicians located at the bottom of the stage, The dancers in charge of each scene demonstrated physical movements and scenic expression, concussing the rhythm of the musical instruments.

The different body methods and styles of steps performed by the dancers on the floor and in the air captured the immediate attention of the audience, and although they could not be applauded during and at the end of each scene people were dazzled by flexibility, coordination of the artists.If the history of this show is analyzed, the body shapes show the beauty and ugliness of life and other types of objects are also used so that the dimension of the stage production grows even more.

¨ Eternal Now¨ was a one hundred percent interpretive show, its movements were fully synchronized and could transmit a message to the viewer.
